Centralisation reduces staffing costs and improves incident response consistency across the whole development.

Console Layout and Video Wall Sizing

SOC design needs to size the video wall and operator console count against the actual camera count and expected simultaneous incident load, not just display every camera feed at once — a common design failure that results in an overwhelming wall of tiny, unmonitorable tiles. Modern SOC design typically prioritises event-driven display (analytics-triggered feeds surface automatically) over static grid layouts.

Integrating CCTV, Access Control and Fire Alarm

Operator ergonomics — sightlines to the video wall, console spacing, lighting levels that don't wash out screen visibility, and acoustic design for radio/phone communication — directly affect incident response quality over long shifts, and should be part of the SOC's interior design brief, not an afterthought once the technology is specified.
