Security Control Room
Design
End-to-end Security Central Monitoring Room (SCMR) and command & control centre design — console layout, video wall, PSIM/VMS integration, operator ergonomics, lighting and acoustics for 24/7 operations across India.
What is a Security Control Room?
A Security Central Monitoring Room (SCMR) or Command & Control Centre is the nerve centre from which all security systems — CCTV, access control, intrusion detection, fire alarm, perimeter security, and communications — are monitored and managed around the clock. Its design directly determines the speed and effectiveness of security response.
Poor control room design leads to operator fatigue, critical display blind spots, slow incident response times, and integration failures. A room designed without ergonomic and environmental standards can compromise your entire security operation — regardless of how sophisticated the technology is.
ASDV Consultant designs SCMRs and security operations centres (SOCs) for airports, seaports, corporate campuses, government buildings, hospitals, data centres, industrial plants and smart city command centres. We apply EN ISO 9241 ergonomics standards and CPNI guidelines to create environments where operators maintain focused attention and respond rapidly to incidents — whether the room operates 8 hours or 24/7.

Our full scope includes: room layout and console placement drawings (AutoCAD/BIM), video wall configuration, systems integration architecture (CCTV/VMS, access control, fire alarm, PSIM), CIBSE LG7 lighting design with lux calculations, acoustic treatment specifications, cable management plans, UPS power sizing, a fully itemised Bill of Quantities (BOQ), and vendor-neutral technical specifications. We also offer construction-phase review and commissioning support as an add-on.
A PSIM is a software platform that integrates and correlates alarms and events from multiple disparate security systems — CCTV, access control, intrusion detection, fire alarm, perimeter systems, and communications — into a single unified operator interface. When an incident occurs, the PSIM correlates related alarms, presents the operator with a guided response procedure, and records all actions for post-incident review. PSIM eliminates the need for operators to switch between multiple system screens.
Video wall sizing depends on the number of camera feeds to display simultaneously, the operator viewing distance, screen resolution, and number of security systems integrated. As a rule of thumb, the video wall should subtend approximately 50–60 degrees of the operator's horizontal field of view at the nearest console position. For a 3-metre viewing distance, this equates to approximately 2.5–3 metres wide. We calculate the appropriate size precisely during the design phase.
CIBSE LG7 recommends 300 lux at desktop level for VDU-intensive work environments, with careful glare control to avoid reflections on monitor screens. Control rooms should use indirect or semi-indirect luminaires, preferably with dimming capability so operators can adjust light levels for different tasks and time of day. Emergency lighting must be provided to maintain at least 1% of normal illumination in the event of a power failure.
No — ASDV Consultant is completely vendor-neutral. We do not represent, resell, or receive commission from any equipment manufacturer or supplier. Our technical specifications are performance-based and technology-neutral, allowing you to procure competitively. This ensures you receive the best value solution with no vendor lock-in.
Typical timelines range from 4 to 12 weeks depending on scope, number of integrated systems, and client review cycles. A corporate campus SCMR may be completed in 4–5 weeks; a large airport or smart city command centre may take 8–12 weeks. We provide a specific project schedule during the initial briefing call.
Yes — the majority of our projects involve retrofitting control rooms into existing buildings. We conduct a detailed site survey to assess structural constraints, available floor space, cable routes, power supply points, and HVAC provisions, then optimise our design within those parameters. Remote site assessment is also available where required.
Our fees are project-based and depend on scope complexity, number of integrated systems, and deliverables required. We quote a fixed professional fee for the complete design package after an initial briefing call — there are no hidden costs. Construction-phase support is available as a separate add-on engagement. Contact us to discuss your project and receive a tailored quote.
