ELV & ICT Consultancy — UK

BIM Services for UK Construction Projects

ISO 19650 and UK BIM Framework-compliant Revit modelling, coordination, clash detection and BEP production for UK architects, engineers and main contractors.

BIM for UK Construction — ISO 19650 & UK BIM Framework

The United Kingdom pioneered BIM in construction — the Government Construction Strategy (2011) mandated BIM Level 2 on all centrally procured public-sector projects from 2016. This evolved into the UK BIM Framework, aligned to ISO 19650 (the international BIM information management standard that originated from the UK's PAS 1192 series). Today, ISO 19650 Parts 1 and 2 govern BIM information management for UK projects, with guidance from the UK BIM Alliance and the UKBIM Alliance's Information Protocol. ASDV is fully versed in this framework.

ISO 19650 BIM Deliverables for UK Projects

ASDV produces all BIM deliverables required under ISO 19650 for UK ELV and ICT design scope:

  • BIM Execution Plan (BEP) — pre-contract and post-contract, aligned to ISO 19650-2 and UK BIM Framework templates
  • Revit MEP models — ELV and ICT services at LOD 200 (concept), 300 (coordinated) and 400 (construction)
  • Navisworks clash detection — federated model clash reports with status tracking (new/active/resolved)
  • IFC export — IFC 2x3 or IFC 4 for open-BIM workflows
  • COBie data drop — COBie UK 2012-format asset data for FM handover
  • Common Data Environment — working within your project CDE (Autodesk Construction Cloud, Aconex, BIM 360 or SharePoint)

UK BIM Framework — What It Requires

The UK BIM Framework aligns ISO 19650 to UK practice through the UKBIM Alliance's guidance documents. Key requirements include the Employer's Information Requirements (EIR), the BIM Execution Plan (BEP), a defined Common Data Environment (CDE) and documented information delivery milestones aligned to RIBA Plan of Work stages (0–7). ASDV produces BEPs and models that are explicitly aligned to RIBA stages and the UK Government Soft Landings (GSL) framework where required.

NBS Chorus Integration: On request, ASDV can align BIM model objects to NBS Chorus specifications — ensuring ELV/ICT Revit elements link to the correct NBS clauses in your UK project specification.

FAQ — UK

Frequently Asked Questions

The UK BIM Framework is the UK's national approach to BIM, aligned to ISO 19650. It replaced the former "BIM Level 2" terminology and provides guidance documents, templates and best-practice guidance published by the UKBIM Alliance. It covers information management throughout the project lifecycle — from Employer's Information Requirements through to FM handover COBie data.

ISO 19650 is mandated on all centrally procured UK Government construction projects. Many local authorities, NHS Trusts and devolved government bodies also mandate it. Private-sector clients increasingly request ISO 19650-compliant BIM, particularly on large commercial, data-centre and hotel projects. ASDV designs to ISO 19650 as standard on all BIM engagements.

ASDV typically produces ELV and ICT Revit models at LOD 200 (concept spatial coordination), LOD 300 (coordinated design, accurate geometry) and LOD 400 (construction-level detail for installation). LOD is agreed in the BEP. We can also produce LOD 500 (as-installed) models for FM handover where required.

Yes — ASDV works within your project's nominated Common Data Environment (CDE). We have experience with Autodesk BIM 360, Autodesk Construction Cloud (ACC), Oracle Aconex, Procore, Trimble Connect and SharePoint-based CDEs. We follow your CDE's folder structure, naming conventions, revision protocols and approval workflows.
