ELV & Security Design for UK Defence & Government
ELV and security design for UK MOD Defence Estates, CPNI-aware critical-infrastructure facilities, GovS 007-aligned government buildings and secure government accommodation — specialised knowledge, competitive fixed fees.
ELV Design for UK Defence & Government
UK defence and government facilities require ELV and security design that goes beyond commercial standards — incorporating CPNI (Centre for the Protection of National Infrastructure) guidance, GovS 007 (Government Security Standards), JSP 440 (Defence Manual of Security) and NCSC (National Cyber Security Centre) guidance for ICT systems. ASDV provides ELV, ICT and physical security design for UK government and defence projects — from Ministry of Justice courts and HMRC offices to MOD training establishments and secure government accommodation.
CPNI Physical Security Design
The Centre for the Protection of National Infrastructure (CPNI) publishes guidance on physical security for the UK's critical national infrastructure — including access control, CCTV, perimeter protection and vehicle/hostile-environment design. ASDV's physical security design follows CPNI principles for government and critical-infrastructure clients, including:
- Layered security zone design (public, semi-public, restricted, secure)
- CCTV with DORI analysis to CPNI-recommended standards
- Two-factor access control to secure zones
- Anti-tailgating airlock / mantrap design
- Perimeter intruder detection (PIDS) integration
GovS 007 — Government Security Standard
GovS 007 (Government Security Standard for Physical Security) applies to UK government departments and arm's-length bodies. It defines physical security requirements by asset classification — from Official to Official-Sensitive to Secret. ASDV designs access control and CCTV systems aligned to GovS 007 classification requirements, with appropriate reader technology, anti-tamper provisions and audit-trail specifications.
MOD Defence Estates
MOD Defence Estates projects follow JSP 440 and the Defence Infrastructure Organisation (DIO) technical standards. ASDV provides ELV design for MOD barracks, training establishments, administrative buildings and technical facilities — fire alarm (BS 5839-1, coordinated with MOD fire strategy), structured cabling, CCTV and access control.
Sector FAQs
CPNI guidance documents are publicly available for many categories of physical security guidance. ASDV designs physical security systems — CCTV, access control, perimeter protection — aligned to CPNI principles and GovS 007 requirements. For projects involving classified information (SECRET/TOP SECRET), additional security protocols apply and ASDV will advise on the appropriate engagement structure.
GovS 007 is the UK Government Security Standard for Physical Security, published by the Cabinet Office. It requires government departments to apply proportionate physical security controls based on the classification and risk level of their assets. For ELV design, it defines requirements for access control zoning, CCTV coverage, intruder alarm grading and perimeter security for UK government facilities.
